Reverse Time Capsule
“What if we were to receive a time capsule not from the past, but from the future?” (Coupland, 1995)
What would you put into a reverse time capsule to send back 20 years? What current artifacts might surprise the citizens of 1998 the most? Share on your location’s Padlet:
Google Expeditions
Google Expeditions, which you can use with Cardboard, is a virtual reality teaching tool that lets you lead or join immersive virtual trips all over the world — get up close with historical landmarks, dive underwater with sharks, even visit outer space!
What value could Google Expeditions add to teaching and learning - could allow us to ‘visit’ other places - makes children excited about learning. - think about the SAMR model and Blooms taxonomy. Would be good to have a virtual tour of the MTG to revisit after our actual visit. To remember and find out new information.
Class Task - HP Reveal to create a trigger image and an overlay
Created an HP Reveal to show the development of a piece of writing from plan to Pride Board
Comparing Virtual and Augmented Reality
Explore aspects of disruptive technology and look at how it can impact on both teachers and learners
Currently Virtual Reality would be harder to implement in class because of the equipment required. We do have number of unused ipods which cuold be used - see if the app is available on an older ipod. We were unable to use it on an android phone. Need to get some more google cardboards. Although they are not very durable and I'm not sure how they would hold up to use in a classroom.
Augmented Reality is very doable in class. Will use it for the Pride Boards to show progress. Will use for next terms art display.
Fits beautifully with Growth Mindset.
Opting out of the future is not an option.
